The
PinchHitter
February 26 - May 23, 2010
Spring is just
the time for America's favorite pastime... everybody loves baseball, especially
when it's done at the Heritage Square Music Hall. "The PinchHitter" is
all about a small-time wannabe gangster, his very ditzy girlfriend with a
serious bubblegum habit and an inept accomplice who just wants to please.
With main characters like Crackerjack Dawkins, Swat Armstrong, Harry Bordello
and Angora LaRue... well you've just got to have fun!!! When Harry
Bordello realizes how good Swat Armstrong is, he devises a plan to win a
sizeable bet by making sure that Swat isn't in the big game. The Bulldogs
are counting on Swat... but when he disappears, help comes from a very unlikely
place. The fun's only beginning with the play.... the comedy/musical
revue following the play is a real hit with our rendition of "Who's On First?"
and an outstanding musical parody of the Beach Boy's '60's tunes with a
baseball twist.
"The
PinchHitter" was first written for the Music Hall stage in 1993 by Janice
Estey. Ms. Estey's credits include..."The Lion's Eye" in 1990, a high
society comedy mystery... "Cops In Space" 1991, a spoof of the Buck
Rodgers-Flash Gordon series of the 1950's... the "Circus Garbanzo" 1996... "Who
Done In Belle Starr" 2003... and our favorite western comedy musical, "The
Desperado" 1989. She has also penned several of our popular children's
productions.
